How do I know which size dog bed or cushion I need?
How do you measure your dog for the perfect dog bed?
A good dog bed is so much more than just a comfortable place to sleep. It's where your dog can fully relax, feel safe, and unwind. That's why choosing the right size is so important. A bed that's too small won't be comfortable, while one that's too large can sometimes feel less cozy and secure.
But how exactly do you measure your dog? We'll explain it step by step.
Step 1: Measure your dog from head to tail
Have your dog stand or lie down relaxed in its natural position. Then use a tape measure to measure from the front of the head to the end of the tail.
This is the most important measurement for determining which dog bed fits best.
Step 2: Consider your dog's sleeping position
Not every dog sleeps the same way. So be sure to consider your four-legged friend's favorite sleeping position.
-
Sleeping curled up
Does your dog like to sleep curled up? Then a slightly more compact bed may be perfect. -
Sleeping stretched out
Does your dog like to stretch out with its legs forward or to the side? Then always choose a little extra space.
Step 3: Add extra centimeters
For optimal comfort, we recommend adding 10 to 20 centimeters of extra space to your dog's measured length. This gives your dog enough room to turn around and lie down comfortably.
Example
Is your dog 70 cm from head to tail?
👉 Ideally, you should choose a dog bed measuring approximately 80 to 90 cm.
