Waar zet je de hondenmand neer?

Where do you put the dog basket?

Did you know that an (adult) dog sleeps 12 to 14 hours a day? So, of course, you want your dog to sleep in a comfortable spot. But what's the ideal sleeping spot for your dog? We'll tell you in this blog post.

Where should you definitely not put the dog basket?

Before we reveal the best place for a dog bed in your home, we'd like to tell you some less-than-ideal places to choose:

1. Near a door or window. These places are often drafty and therefore unfriendly for your dog. Being in a draft can even make your dog sick.

2. The hallway isn't a good place to put the bed. People often walk through here, disturbing your dog while he sleeps.

3. The kitchen isn't exactly an ideal place either. It's also unhygienic. There's a lot going on in the kitchen; there are so many different smells and sounds that can distract your dog during his nap.

4. Near a fireplace or radiator. Dogs quickly get too warm, so they'll look for another place to continue their nap. It can also be dangerous.

5. Just like with a heater or fireplace, a window with a lot of sunlight can also get too warm. Your dog can get too hot if they lie in the sun for too long.

The right place to place the dog cushion or dog basket.

Based on the above points, you can conclude that finding the right sleeping spot for your dog is quite a challenge. When determining the perfect spot for a dog bed, it's important to carefully consider where your dog prefers to lie down. Most dogs have a designated spot they consider their favorite place to sleep. Your companion will be grateful if you place a comfortable bed there.

While every dog's favorite sleeping spot is different, we've found that most dogs feel most comfortable in a quiet spot in the living room. Placing the dog bed in a corner or against a wall creates a sense of security. The ideal formula for a good night's sleep!
