Waar zet je de hondenmand neer?

Where do you put the dog bed?

Did you know that an (adult) dog sleeps 12 to 14 hours a day? Naturally, you want your dog to have a comfortable place to lie. But what is the ideal sleeping spot for your dog? We’ll tell you all about it in this blog.

Where should you especially not place the dog bed?

Before revealing the best place for a dog bed in your home, we’d first like to tell you about some less suitable places to put it:

1. Right next to a door or window. These spots are often drafty and therefore not comfortable for your dog. Lying in a draft can even make your dog ill.

2. The hallway is not a convenient place to put the bed. People often walk through here, which can disturb your dog while sleeping.

3. The kitchen is not an ideal place either. It is also not very hygienic. A lot happens in the kitchen, with many different smells and sounds that can distract your dog during its nap.

4. Close to a fireplace or radiator. Dogs get too warm quickly, so they will look for another place to continue their nap. In addition, it can also be dangerous.

5. Just like with a radiator or fireplace, it can also become too warm near a window that lets in a lot of sunlight. Your dog can overheat if it lies in the sun for too long.

The right place to put the dog cushion or dog bed.

Based on the points above, you can conclude that finding the right sleeping spot for your dog can be quite a challenge. When determining the perfect place for a dog bed in your home, it is therefore important to pay close attention to where your dog itself prefers to lie. Most dogs have a regular spot that they consider their favorite place to sleep. Your buddy will be grateful if you put a comfortable bed there for them.

Although every dog’s favorite sleeping spot is different, it has been found that most dogs feel most comfortable in a quiet place in the living room. Placing the dog bed in a corner or against a wall creates a sense of security. The ideal formula for a good night’s rest!
